A small company that grows little products

The studio

Carrotly Pte. Ltd. was incorporated in Singapore in 2022 (UEN 202212557Z). The name is a soft pun — a carrot is a small, useful thing you grow, and the suffix is a nod to quietly. That's roughly the working principle: small, useful things, grown without fanfare.

The studio is independently operated. There are no outside investors, no growth targets handed down from a board, and no obligation to turn any one product into a billion-dollar company. That changes the maths on what we build. We don't need a product to be huge — we need it to be honest, useful to the people who pay for it, and pleasant to run.

We run four products instead of one. The unfashionable reason is that a small portfolio is more resilient than a single bet, and the honest reason is that we like building. Four lets us learn from one product and feed it into the others — what worked in Aimpress shapes HeyIsla, what we learned billing for Story Time Together feeds back into TooLong.xyz. They share a code style, a billing approach, and a support inbox; everything else is allowed to be different.

The garden

Every product is a plant. It's a metaphor that started as a doodle and stuck — products take time, need looking after, grow at their own pace, and a few die. The watercolour plants you'll see around the site are each tied to a specific product:

Who runs it

Michael Cutler — Michael founded Carrotly Pte. Ltd. in 2022. He writes here about how the four products are built and run, and answers email at hello@carrotly-ai.com.

Day to day that means: writing the code, replying to support, drawing the carrots, paying the bills, and occasionally publishing a field note about how it's going.

What we believe

• We grow little products, not big ones.
• We charge for software, not data.
• Every email goes to a human, usually within one business day (Singapore time).
• Each product runs on its own — there is no unified Carrotly login.
• We ship slowly, in public, and we'd rather be small and right than big and noisy.
• We answer support email ourselves — there is no support tier we hide behind.
